GBAPS Trustee resigns over questions of residency
GREEN BAY, Wis (WGBW) – Green Bay Area Public Schools (GBAPS) Trustee Kou Lee resigned from his position on the board yesterday. This comes after a local newspaper did a deep dive into whether or not he lives in the school district he was helping to govern.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette investigated a tip that Lee does not live in Green Bay. They found he has a home in Hobart, which is not a part of the district.

The School District sent a press release at 4:30 yesterday afternoon announcing Lee’s resignation.
Meanwhile, the Republican Party of Brown County has asked Brown County District Attorney David Lasee to launch a criminal investigation into what they called “residency fraud.”
“Mr. Lee’s resignation is not enough,” the complaint says. “This was a deception against both the public and the candidates who followed the law and campaigned in good faith.”
The school district will review a timeline and begin the process of appointing a new board member at a future meeting. An election will be held in April 2026 to officially fill the seat.
