MADISON, Wis. (CIVIC MEDIA) – Friday is the deadline for people to get valentines in the mail for Wisconsin veterans.

This is the third year of the Valentines for Veterans program from the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs.

People can send valentines to show their appreciation for veterans’ service.

With tens of thousands of cards, it takes a lot of organizing.

Last year, folks sent 28,000 Valentine’s Day cards. According to the WDVA, they were from all over the country.

The cards will be distributed to the state’s veterans’ homes in Chippewa Falls, King, and Union. For the first time this year, because they’ve had such high participation, they’ll also be distributing valentines to the folks at the Veterans Housing and Recovery Program locations in Chippewa Falls, Green Bay, and Union Grove.

Friday, January 31 is the final day for valentines to be mailed so they can arrive in time for organization and distribution.

You can send valentines to:

Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs
Attn: Veteran Valentines
PO Box 7843
Madison, WI 53707-7843

WDVA officials ask please do not include treats.
