MILWAUKEE (Civic Media) – Froedtert Health and ThedaCare are announcing their intentions to merge operations in Wisconsin.

The announcement Tuesday will pair two of Wisconsin’s largest health care providers together, which already have collaborated on the Medical College of Wisconsin and two recently-announced health care campuses.

“By coming together with the state’s leader in regional community health, our combined organization will be poised to meaningfully address health equity and disparities, enhance access to a broader array of services and make it easier for patients to navigate the health care system,” Cathy Jacobson, president and CEO of Froedtert Health, said.

“We are alike in many ways, and our leaders and our boards have long been asking how we can accelerate our work to make a positive and lasting impact on our state, Dr. Imran Andrabi, ThedaCare president and CEO, said.

The president/CEO of both companies will be part of a new 18-member board of the combined organization, with Jacobson retiring six months after the transition serving as CEO. Andrabi would then take over the CEO role while also holding the president role after the transition, according to a release.

The two companies hope to complete the merger by the end of the year. The names and brands of the combined organization will not change.

More information about the merger is available online.
