RICHLAND CENTER, Wis (WRCO / WRCE) – Are you looking for something to do this weekend in Southwest Wisconsin? We have you covered!

Saturday, May 31

The Kaul Park Spring Fish Boil will be held Saturday, May 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. The suggested donation price is $15 per person and $7 for children 12 and under. The evening will also feature music from Crossfire from 5 to 9 p.m.

Students in River Valley Schools Grades five through 12 are eligible for free 10’ x 10’ garden plots at the River Valley Area Community Gardens in Spring Green. Water, fertilizer, and mulch are included as well as the use of community tools. Mentors are available to teach gardening skills. Application forms are available online or you may request one at [email protected] or call 608-588-6040. The application deadline is May 31.

Sunday, June 1

Christ Lutheran Church will host a Gathering in the Garden on Sunday, June 1, at 10:00. The service will be at the Post House Garden on Jefferson Street in downtown Spring Green next to the theater. Following the service, lunch items prepared by the owners of the Shed will be available for purchase from 11:00a to 1:00p. The Solstice Jazz Band will play from 11:00a to 1:00p during the lunch.

The Basswood Church will celebrate its 130th anniversary Sunday, June 1. A worship service will be held at 10:00a followed with a dinner, a history presentation at 1:00p, and a hymn sing to follow. All are welcome. The steeple is in need of repairs and donations or memorials are welcome. The Boaz Lions Club invites you to tour the Mastedon Building the first Sunday of each month now through September. The building will be open Sunday afternoons from 1:00p to 3:00p.

Kickapoo Cowboy Church is held at 6:00p on the first Sunday of the month, April through December, at the Old Oak Inn in Soldiers Grove.

Some River Valley Area Community Gardens 2025 garden plots are still available. 10’ x 10’ plots rent for $20 a season. 10’ x 20’ plots are $40 for the season and 20’ x 20’ plots are $60 for the season. The fee includes straw mulch, manure/compost, organic fertilizer, water to each plot section and hoses as well as the use of our rototiller and other tools. Registration forms are available in the INFO BOX at the Gardens in Spring Green behind Ring Brothers Classic Auto. Forms may also be requested via email at [email protected] , or by texting 608-588-6040.

All are invited to attend the first Crawford County Coronation Banquet at the Eastman United Methodist Fellowship Hall Monday night, June 16th. The night will kick off at 6:00p with a meet the contestants, cheese, and cracker social. A homemade dinner prepared by the Eastman United Methodist Church will follow at 7:00p. The program’s guest speaker will be Melissa Oates, 2025 Mrs. Badger State for American Royal Beauties. The 2024 Crawford County Fair and Dairy Royalty will highlight the evening. This year’s candidates will present their prepared speeches as they are introduced, followed by the coronation of the 2025 Crawford County Fairest of the Fair, Junior Fairest of the Fair, Dairy Princess, and Little Miss Squirt.
