GREEN BAY, WI- (WGBW) – Yesterday’s Primary Election saw relatively low voter turnout as there were few local races. Here are the primary results.
There were two primaries for school boards in the Greater Green Bay Area.
In the Green Bay Area Public School District, Incumbents James Lyerly and Rick Crosson will join Jeanette Knill, Katie Gentry, Alex Mineau, and Elliot Christenson on the April 1st Ballot. Ethan Rouse will not continue in the race.
The primary for the Wrightstown School Board advances incumbents Melinda Lemke and Jeff Nelson with challengers Johnathan Curtis and Amber Cox. Debbie Vander Heiden only collected 7 percent of the vote and will not advance to the April General Election.
In Appleton, the primary for District 11 Appleton Common Council member sees Andrian Stancil-Martin advancing to the April 1st ballot. He will be joined by Stuart Brehm who eeked out his position with just 6 votes more than Lesley Vogel. The April Election will decide who will take over the position vacated by Kristin Dassler-Alfheim, the new Senate District 18 Senator.
Winnebago County had a primary for Winnebago County Executive. Former State Assembly Member Gordon Hintz snagged 50 percent of the votes. Incumbent County Executive Jon Doemel also advanced to the general election. They were opposed by Winnebago Sheriff John Matz.
The only statewide race on yesterday’s ballot was the primary for state superintendent.
Jill Underly is seeking re-election to the post this spring. She advanced with 38 percent of the vote. Brittany Kinser picked up nearly 35 percent to advance as well.
Underly, who is backed by Democrats, will face Kinser, who is supported by Republicans, in the officially non-partisan election this spring. In Kinser’s post-primary statement, she reached out to voters for Jeff Wright, who finished with about 27 percent of the vote, for support in the Spring Election.
