Madison, WI (Civic Media) – Governor Tony Evers has appointed John Remington, a partner at the law firm Quarles & Brady LLP, to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court – Branch 6. This appointment fills the vacancy left by Judge Ellen Brostrom’s resignation, which will take effect on May 3, 2024. Remington is set to serve the remainder of the term, which concludes on July 31, 2025.
Governor Evers praised Remington, stating, “John Remington is a respected attorney well known for his good judgment and strong work ethic. He will be an exceptional judge for the people of Milwaukee County.”
Remington’s legal career began at Quarles & Brady LLP in 2007, where he specialized in civil litigation, focusing on unfair competition, creditor-debtor law, and healthcare-related litigation. His clientele has ranged from healthcare providers to financial institutions, and he has handled cases involving both employers and employees in matters of unfair competition and noncompetition.
Beyond his professional work, Remington has worked in providing pro bono services, including participation in the Quarles & Brady LLP truancy court project in Outagamie County, representing incarcerated individuals in section 1983 claims, and managing termination of parental rights cases in Milwaukee County.
Remington, a resident of the Enderis Park neighborhood in Milwaukee, holds degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis. He is actively involved in the Milwaukee Rowing Club, the University of Wisconsin W Club, and serves on the Catholic East Elementary School Advisory Council.
Upon his appointment, Remington expressed his gratitude and honor to succeed Judge Brostrom, stating, “I am grateful to Gov. Evers for his confidence in me. Milwaukee has been a wonderful place to live and raise a family—I am eager to serve our community in this new way by applying the law fairly and diligently and by treating everyone who appears in my courtroom with respect.”
