MADISON, Wis. (Civic Media) – Judge Janet Protasiewicz has won the Wisconsin Supreme Court election.
The Milwaukee County judge defeated former Justice Dan Kelly.
The hotly-contested race saw spending reach more than $42.3 million through Monday morning, a record, according to the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, an organization that tracks campaign spending.
The Associated Press, New York Times, and other media outlets called the race just before 9 p.m., less than an hour after the polls closed in Wisconsin.
